Mong Nai Man Vanishes After Being Taken for Military Conscription

缅媒：在蒙奈被征召入伍后失踪（缅甸的抓壮丁跟乌克兰可有一比）

Eighteen days after 35-year-old Sai Murng was detained for military conscription, his family remains without information about his whereabouts and has had no contact with him.

35岁的赛门被征召入伍后18天，他的家人至今仍无法得知他的下落，也未曾与他取得联系。

Sai Murng, also known as Sai Lin, has been missing since he was detained for military conscription in Mong Nai on September 3, 2026.

赛门，又名赛林，自2026年9月3日在蒙奈被拘押入伍后便下落不明。

On September 3 at around 9 a.m., Sai Murng, also known as Sai Lin, left his home in Loi Pyay Ward, Mong Nai, saying he was going to forage for mushrooms.

9月3日上午约9点，赛门（又名赛·林）离开位于蒙奈洛伊派区的家，说他要去采蘑菇。

Shortly afterward, members of the local administrative team arrived at his home, seized his national registration card and smart card, and told his relatives that he met the criteria for military service and had been detained.

不久之后，当地行政人员来到他家中，没收了他的身份证和智能卡，并告诉他的亲属，他符合服兵役条件，已被拘留。

“They intercepted and arrested him on the road under the pretext of military conscription. They neither sent a letter nor notified the family at home. They simply grabbed him off the street,” a family member told SHAN.

“他们以征兵为借口，在路上拦截并逮捕了他，既没有寄信，也没有通知他的家人。他们只是从街上把他抓走了，”一位家属向《掸邦先驱新闻社》透露。

Sai Murng is the primary breadwinner for his household. He works as a daily wage laborer and supports his 2-year-old child and his 67-year-old mother, who has heart disease.

赛门是家庭的主要经济支柱。他是一名日薪工人，养活着两岁的孩子和患有心脏病的67岁母亲。

Nearly three weeks after his detention, his relatives said they had received no confirmation from the authorities about his whereabouts, leaving the family increasingly distressed.

在被拘留近三周后，他的亲属表示尚未收到当局关于他下落的任何确认，令家人日益焦虑。

“We went to see the relevant authorities in the village and downtown, but they wouldn’t even let us see them. To this day, we haven’t been able to contact him. We don’t even know whether he is dead or alive,” a family member said.

“我们去了村里和市中心的相关主管部门，但他们甚至不允许我们见到他们。直到今天，我们一直无法联系上他。我们甚至不知道他是否还活着。”一位家属说。

Residents said the junta had been arbitrarily rounding up young men in Mong Nai for military conscription even before Sai Murng’s detention.

居民们表示，在赛门被捕之前，军政府就已经任意在蒙奈地区抓捕年轻男子进行征兵。

According to locals, families seeking the release of detained relatives have faced ransom demands ranging from 30 million to 40 million kyats ($6,772 to $9,032) per person.

据当地居民称，寻求释放被拘留亲属的家庭已面临每人3000万至4000万缅币（约合6772至9032美元）的赎金要求。

Residents also said that since the regime introduced nationwide conscription, households in Mong Nai have been forced to pay a monthly “conscription fee” of between 20,000 and 50,000 kyats.

居民们还表示，由于政权实行全国征兵制，蒙奈地区的家庭被迫每月缴纳2万至5万缅币的“征兵费”。

They said the payments have not prevented young men from being detained in street-level roundups.

Under the regime’s military service law, mandatory military service applies to men aged 18 to 34 and women aged 18 to 27.

根据该政权的兵役法，18至34岁的男性和18至27岁的女性均需服兵役。

Military service training is currently conducted in batches of approximately 5,000 trainees. By September 2026, the regime had opened 28 batches of military service training. If each batch reached the reported capacity, that would amount to roughly 140,000 trainees over two years.

目前，兵役训练以约5000名学员为一批进行。到2026年9月，该政权已开设了28批兵役训练。如果每批都达到报告的容量，两年内将累计约有14万名学员。

According to the Myanmar Defense & Security Institute (MDSI), the military is facing severe troop shortages amid heavy battlefield casualties, prompting the regime to reopen previously shuttered training facilities.

据缅甸国防与安全研究所（MDSI）称，由于战场上伤亡惨重，军方正面临严重的兵力短缺问题，导致政权重新开放此前关闭的训练设施。

MDSI reported that, beginning with Batch 27, Advanced Military Training School No. 10 in Kalay and Advanced Military Training School No. 13 in Singu Township resumed accepting trainees. It said 24 of the country’s 27 military training schools were currently active.

MDSI报告称，从第27批次开始，位于卡拉伊的第10高级军事训练学校和位于辛古镇的第13高级军事训练学校已恢复招收学员。报告还指出，全国27所军事训练学校中目前有24所处于正常运作状态。
